Summer Walks - Happy Memories

Created by carolcaergwrle 11 years ago
My happiest memories are of special times my sister Kathy and I spent with our dear Mum, she always had time for us, and was always there to listen and encourage us in whatever we did. There was nothing better than when we came home from school to our little bungalow to be welcomed by dear mum's wonderful smile and the smell of delicious dinner cooking. She always put her family first above all else. Often when we were on school holidays Mum would take us for for long walks in the countryside near where we lived. We would be out for hours exploring, Mum opened our eyes to many of natures wonders, and she had a unique way of making even little things important. We learnt some very valuable lessons in those wonderful times with our wonderful mum who made everything we did together so special. Mum had always wanted to be a teacher but sadly did'nt get the chance but as far as we were concerned she was the very best teacher we could have wished for,and has taught and guided her children and her grandchildren well. She was a teacher of life! We would sometimes go down by the river for a picnic or up over the viaduct to the Bluebell Woods. I can still vividly remember the amazing sight of the ground beneath the trees covered in a carpet of brilliant blue. Often we would take a shortcut over a stile into a field covered with what almost looked like a sea of yellow buttercups and pretty white daisies - we of course would have to stop and collect them to make daisy chains. we would be armed with bunches of wildflowers to take home that we had collected along the way. We were so fortunate to have had an idyllic carefree childhood, surrounded by nature. So may wonderful happy times and memories to share - Carol xx
